General Motors (GM) established its operations in Thailand in 2000. Headquartered in Bangkok, GM in Thailand is led by GM Southeast Asia President Ian Nicholls. Nicholls oversees GM’s manufacturing facility at Rayong, as well as the sales and distribution operations of its Chevrolet vehicles in Thailand. Nicholls is also responsible for GM’s business across Southeast Asia.
GM Thailand’s product portfolio includes the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and the Trailblazer SUV. Both vehicles received Car of the Year awards for the fifth time in 2018. With pick-up trucks and SUVs at the core of its strategy for Thailand, GM continues to be focused on delivering the best possible ownership experience for its customers.
GM Thailand's Rayong manufacturing facility is a regional hub which builds the Colorado pick-up truck and Trailblazer SUV under the Chevrolet and Holden nameplates for domestic and export markets, including Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
GM Thailand celebrated its millionth vehicle produced in Rayong in February 2014, and has received numerous awards over the years, particularly for its environmental, energy and safety management. It was also the first automotive company in the country to receive the ISO 50001 certification recognizing GM’s commitment to energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in its manufacturing process.
GM Thailand is committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates. In 2016 GM Thailand was recognized by AMCHAM for its excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for the sixth year in a row.
