Description
For U.S. citizens living abroad, tax season inevitably brings questions and headaches. Bring your questions to the 2021 AMCHAM U.S. Tax Filing Updates, with a panel discussion led by the AMCHAM Tax Committee. This session is an invaluable primer for the issues you need to consider for your 2021 year-end tax planning and tax reporting.
We'll be discussing some of the proposed changes to the U.S. tax code. Some of the issues we'll discuss are:
- What should Individual Taxpayers potentially prepare for?
- What should Corporate Taxpayers potentially prepare for?
- How will the proposed changes impact estate planning for U.S. citizens?
- When can we expect to see a new tax law passed and when will it go into effect?
Panelists:
- Matthew Stevens is Managing Director at Global U.S. Tax Plan, a Bangkok-based U.S. tax consultancy that provides U.S expatriates around the region with income tax planning and preparation services. Matthew is a certified CPA and holds a B.A. in Economics from University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.B.A from California State University.
- Josh Maxwell is a partner at Hone Maxwell, LLP, and Of Counsel at Mahanakorn Partners Group where he focuses on a wide variety of international tax issues including the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program, FATCA, treaties, and IRS informational reporting. In addition to being a California certified CPA, Josh holds a Masters of Tax from Arizona Statue University and a J.D. and LL.M from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he also serves as adjunct professor.
