AMCHAM is delighted to welcome Consul General Scott Cecil and members of his team to share more information about the work that goes on in the Consular Section to process the volume of visa requests received each year, as well as update AMCHAM members on changes in the post-Covid era. The Consul General’s presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
About the Speaker:
Scott Cecil, Consul General and Country Consular Coordinator, U.S. Embassy Bangkok. Scott arrived in Bangkok in September 2020. His previous overseas tours included serving as Minister-Counselor for Consular Affairs in Berlin, Consular Chief in Monterrey, American Citizens Services (ACS) Chief in London, Deputy Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in Baghdad, ACS Chief in Mexico City, Consular Chief in Matamoros, Political Officer in Berlin, and Consular Officer in Manila. Domestic tours included Deputy Director of Consular Training at the Foreign Service Institute, Field Liaison Officer in Consular Affairs’ Visa Office, and Watch Officer at the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center. Prior to joining the State Department, he worked for two years as a policy analyst in the Bureau of Export Controls in the Department of Commerce. Originally from Shawnee, Oklahoma, Scott received an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1988, an M.A. in German from the University of Oklahoma in 1986, and a B.A. in Letters from the University of Oklahoma in 1981. He speaks German and Spanish.
