Description
At the beginning of each year, the air pollution in many of the main cities of Thailand such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, etc. reach a dangerous level with toxic smog known as PM 2.5. According to health experts, the PM 2.5 particles are small enough to penetrate deeply into the lungs, which can cause both short-term bronchitis problems as well as serious long-term health issues. While Bangkok's smog crisis results from excessive amount of ultra-dust from vehicle emission, burning of fields is cited as the main reason for smog outside of Bangkok.
The National action plan to combat dust pollution problem has been issued by Pollution Control Department since October 2019. There are also a numbers of attempts from individuals, farmers, big or small companies/organizations and government that take active actions to prevent this situation that worsens every year and has become a threat to health as well as impacts social and economic development.
A clear guidance from experts from healthcare, academic, private sector and government can help in understanding the real impact and what you should be aware and be prepared for.
Do you think you understand PM 2.5 well and its risks? Will PM 2.5 cause you Lung Cancer even without smoking a cigarette?, How well do you cope with PM 2.5 for yourself and people around you? Our 4 speakers will share their view and experience followed by a Q & A session.
