Description
Reduce Single-Use!
AMCHAM Challenge
- Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans (See source here)
- Thailand produces more than 2 million tons of plastic waste annually (See source here)
- Scientists have recently discovered micro-plastics embedded deep in the Arctic ice (See source here)
Can we make small changes each day to make a big impact?
Take the AMCHAM Challenge to Reduce Single-Use Plastics. Join the AMCHAM team from March 2 to March 6 as they engage in this mindful practice regarding single-use plastic waste. This is an excellent opportunity for your business to engage in team building while helping the environment!
Participating is simple:
- From March 2 to March 6, avoid using single-use plastic or styrofoam items. This includes items like plastic straws, plastic bags, and takeaway containers for food and beverages.
- For every single-use plastic or styrofoam item brought into the office, donate 5 Baht to a penalty jar. The amount is up to your office! At the AMCHAM office we will use our funds at the end of the week to fund sending our recyclable plastics to the recycling center.
- At the end of the week, do a quick reflection with your team on personal single-use plastic use. Are you using more of it than you thought? Can you think of ways to avoid it? What practices will you employ in the future to have an impact?
- Use these hashtags, #reducesingleuseplastics and #amchamchallenge to share your posts.
- If you are already doing something, share your stories with our community using the same tags.
