AMCHAM is delighted to welcome Rachavitch Piyapramote, Minister, Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (Bangkok Office), Department of Trade Negotiations, to address the AMCHAM membership at our Virtual Membership Meeting.
Topics will include recent developments in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) negotiations, following the Royal Thai Government decision last year to participate in IPEF talks; Thailand’s trade roles and strategies to promote 2022 APEC priorities, especially the Free-Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP); as well as an update on the FTA negotiations in general.
About the Speaker
Rachavitch Piyapramote is currently serving as Minister, Permanent Mission of Thailand to the WTO and WIPO (Bangkok Office) under the Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce. His responsibilities cover Thailand’s roles and trade strategies in the WTO, WIPO, APEC, as well as trade policy in Europe, US and the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and China. His focus also includes Thailand’s negotiations under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Previously, he served as Director, Bureau of European Affairs, Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce from 2012-2018. From 2008-2012, he was appointed Assistant Director-General for Multilateral Trade Negotiations, Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce.
Rachavitch has a proven track record of representing Thailand in front of many international panels, as Lead Negotiator for Thailand in ASEAN Economic Dispute Settlement Mechanism and as a member of Thailand’s legal team for WTO trade disputes.
