Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a significant component of Thailand's economic growth and development and the Kingdom is a major FDI destination in the Asia Pacific region. The Office of the Board of Investment (BOI) is responsible for promoting both FDI to Thailand and overseas investment by Thai companies. Many AMCHAM members are BOI promoted companies. About Speaker
Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, received a bachelor’s degree in French from Chulalongkorn University and obtained her MBA (Finance and International Business) from Indiana University on a Fulbright scholarship. She was appointed to the position - BOI Secretary General in October of 2017 after having a long career at the Thailand Board of Investment, which is a major government agency in charge of attracting foreign investment and encouraging local investment. Apart from having spent 7 years as the Deputy Secretary General, she spent most of her career in the fields of international business and international trade negotiations.
