With the second largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, Thailand has made data protection and cybersecurity key priorities of its Thailand 4.0 policy to promote economic growth driven by technology and innovation. To advance these objectives, Thailand is implementing new regulations for data protection and cybersecurity based on international standards.
The objectives of the Data Protection and Cybersecurity Standards Workshop are to:
- Highlight innovations from industry-driven standards development
- Share experiences in data protection and cybersecurity
- Promote best practices for regulation and compliance
- Feature data and cybersecurity technologies and services
Discussions will focus on the importance of global security and privacy standards to facilitate cooperation and limit potential barriers to trade and investment. Key participants will include Thai government officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the National Cyber Security Agency and Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee, as well as leading U.S. government officials, The Software Alliance, the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and the American National Standards Institute.
