AMCHAM is pleased to present The Governors' Table, hosted by AMCHAM President Greg Wong of Agoda, and AMCHAM Board Governor Viboon Kromadit, Director & Chief Marketing Officer of AMATA Corporation.
On this special occasion, we are delighted to welcome our guests of honor, U.S. Ambassador Michael George DeSombre and his wife Jean DeSombre.
Please join us for an intimate dinner gathering at the Holiday Inn Pattaya on the Eastern Seaboard. To allow for meaningful conversation and social distancing, attendance will be limited to 25 guests.
Greg Wong, is Managing Director at Agoda, one of the world's fastest-growing online travel platforms, with over 2,000 employees in Bangkok. An experienced Board Member and former Senior American Diplomat, Greg specializes in building sustainable partnerships between government and industry. Greg was Commercial Officer at American Embassies in Thailand, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and other global posts. Greg was awarded the Gold Medal - the highest award given by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Greg was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burundi, and entrepreneur with a successful import and retail business in Honolulu. Greg studied Thai at Chula, holds an MBA from the University of Hawaii, and an MPA from Harvard.
Viboon Kromadit earned the master's degree in political science from Thammasat University. He has been working with Amata for over 20 years and as the head of Marketing and Sales Department of Amata City Chonburi and Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate which have the total area of more than 44,000 rai. Thereby, he is one of the key directors who has pushed Amata to be very successful.
Besides his routine work as the Director of AMATA, he also emphasizes on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility. He works as a Chairman of AMATA Sustainable Development Committee which is officially established in 2012. The committees are responsible for the development in local community, society and environment to ensure that local people can pleasantly live with AMATA Industrial Estate.
Prior to Ambassador DeSombre’s confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand in January 2020, he was a partner in the law firm of Sullivan and Cromwell from 2004 to 2019, where he led their mergers and acquisition practice in Asia. Ambassador DeSombre has had over two decades of experience representing and negotiating on behalf of American and international clients in large scale investment and economic development projects in Asia. Ambassador DeSombre graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Quantitative Economics and an M.A. in East Asian Studies, and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He and his wife Jean have four children.
Before moving to Bangkok Dr. Jean DeSombre was Executive Vice President North Asia at Fresenius Medical Care Asia Pacific. Dr. DeSombre is former General Counsel for Agility Public Warehousing Co. KSC and former General Counsel for Syngenta AG. Dr. DeSombre received a doctorate and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and an MBA from The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.
