Thailand is embracing the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model as a sustainable and inclusive approach to drive the economic and social development after Covid-19. BCG model will create great business opportunities in Thailand and positioned the country to become a global investment destination for BCG businesses.
In this session we are honored to have Dr.Wijarn Simachaya, President of Thai Environment Institute (TEI) and a chairman of circular economy under the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model to come and talk about Thailand's BCG's strategy in 2022 - 2027 especially on Circular Economy Model. He will also touch Thailand's Long-Term Greenhouse Gas Emission Development Strategy and the new National Determined Contributions that the government has pledged at COP26.
Our Speaker:
Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, President of Thai Environment Institute, the Secretary-General of Thailand Business Council for Sustainable Development (TBCSD), a Chairman of PPP Plastics.
Dr. Wijarn is a former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Director General of Pollution Control Department of Thailand. He was also a representative of the ministry of various UN, Sub-regional, and ASEAN / ASEAN Plus 3 Forums. He has worked as a chairman of circular economy under the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model.
He currently works with various public-private agencies, civil societies and communities on the ground to develop environmental management models for the country, and moving toward sustainable development. Dr. Wijarn holds Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Engineering from University of Guelph, Canada in 1990.
