The AMCHAM Government Affairs team has been closely following the latest developments on key regulatory changes impacting the platform economy and cloud policy in Thailand. Recently, the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), on behalf of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), has conducted an assessment of the current Royal Decree on Platform Businesses. The findings of this assessment, set to be released for public hearing in November, will be pivotal in shaping the Draft Platform Economy Act (PEA).

Simultaneously, the government's Cloud First Policy has emerged as a critical focus area, bringing forward significant guidelines and standards, including the National Cyber Security Agency's Draft Notification on Cloud Security, which may influence data localization requirements for high-impact cloud services and create new opportunities for U.S. businesses.
