Description
The Government Affairs Council will convene virtually on February 17 with the following agenda:
- The Government Affairs report of January.
- Upcoming meetings with the government.
- February 17 - meeting with Mr. Patchara Anuntasilp, Director General of the Customs Department. The topics of discussion will include:
- The department’s policy priorities.
- “Ten for Ten” - simplify and digitize cross-border clearances.
- “Ten for Ten” - increase availability of e-government platforms.
- “Ten for Ten’ - establish account-based customs processing.
- The Customs Alliance Program.
- The AMCHAM Virtual Membership Meeting with H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health as the keynote speaker. The topics will cover:
- The resurgence of the Covid-19 outbreak in Thailand.
- The government measures.
- Thailand as a regional healthcare hub.
- Cooperation with AMCHAM.
- February 22 - meeting with H.E. Phipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports. The agenda will include:
- The ministry’s policy priorities and initiatives to revive the tourism sector.
- Sustainable tourism post Covid-19.
- “Ten for Ten” – increase availability of e-government platforms.
- February 24 – the Trade & Investment Committee meeting with Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, Secretary-General of the Board of Investment. The topics will cover:
- BOI’s update on investment privileges and incentives.
- BOI partnership with businesses to overcome challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Enhancement of foreign investment in Thailand.
- “Ten for Ten” – simplify BOI applications and applicability.
- March 1 – meeting with H.E. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Finance. The topics of discussion will include:
- The ministry’s policy priorities.
- Financial stimulus measures.
- “Ten for Ten” – increase availability of e-government platforms.
- “Ten for Ten” – develop Thailand’s financial infrastructure.
- Members’ issues for discussion
- Draft letter to the Prime Minister on ban of online alcohol sales.
- The Board of Governors approved government engagement action items for 2021.
- Other matters.
All AMCHAM members are welcome to attend the Government Affairs Council meetings to stay abreast of the policy priorities that AMCHAM advocates for on behalf of members. Advance registration is necessary, as we do not accept walk-ins or non-member guests for these meetings.
Membership in the AMCHAM Thailand Government Affairs Council is open to managers of government relations and public affairs of AMCHAM Thailand member companies.
