Join the AMCHAM Food and Agri-business Council for an engaging panel discussion to explore the latest developments in gene editing technology from a technology, policy, and consumer perception perspective. Our panelists - Dr. Chalinee Kongsawat, Dr. Supachai Vuttipongchaikij, and Fellicia Kristianti - will discuss both the opportunities this new technology presents as well as the risks for Thai companies engaged in the food and agri-business industries.
Speakers:
Supachai Vuttipongchaikij, Associate Professor, Kasetsart University Department of Genetics,
holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the University of York, UK. Dr. Supachai specializes in genome editing in plants, genetic engineering, and research on cell wall polysaccharides and starch.
Fellicia Kristianti, Customer Success Manager - APAC, Innova Market Insights, holds a bachelor’s degree in food technology at Swiss Germany University (Jakarta, Indonesia), a master’s degree in food technology in specialization of Food Innovation and Management at Wageningen University (The Netherlands). After finishing her Masters, she become an insights and innovation analyst at Innova Market Insights. As she moves to another role as a Customer Success Manager in APAC region, she guides clients in retrieving relevant insights from Innova’s Database and its affiliated platforms. Through frequent communication with leaders in the industry, she makes sure to understand the information needs and support them with the cutting-edge intelligence solutions to help professionals with strategies to grow their businesses.
Chalinee Kongsawat, with a Ph.D. in Agricultural Biotechnology from Kasetsart University, is the Manager of the Biosafety Department at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation in Thailand. With over two decades of expertise in biosafety, she serves as the Secretary of the Technical Biosafety Committee (TBC), offering technical support to regulatory agencies. Chalinee is responsible for formulating guidelines to assess the safety of organisms developed through modern biotechnology, including genetically modified organisms (GMOs), foods derived from genome-edited organisms and animal cell-based food. Notably, she is actively contributing to Thailand's genome editing guidelines. Driven by a commitment to advancing biosafety practices, she continues to be at the forefront of developing and implementing crucial guidelines in her field.
