AMCHAM is pleased to host U.S. Embassy Consular Officer Akaisha Cook for a presentation on Getting Your U.S. Student Visa.
This presentation will cover F and J student visas; how to collect the necessary documentation; the timeline you should allow yourself to prepare; and how to avoid common pitfalls and ensure a smooth visa application process.
All students or parents of students planning to study in the United States are encouraged to attend. After the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions directly of our speaker through a moderated Q&A session.
Our speaker:
Akaisha Cook is a consular officer in Bangkok, Thailand. She is a graduate of Georgetown University with a Master of Arts in Asian Studies. Her concentrations were in politics and security as well as transnational issues with a focus on China. She is also a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Akaisha became UNLV’s first recipient of the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Program Fellowship for the 2020 academic cycle. In 2021, Akaisha interned at the China Desk, where she wrote a monthly China synchronization call ALDAC cable, prepared daily press releases, and helped track China-related congressional developments and legislation.
