Description
AMCHAM is proud to partner with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to launch their Sustainable Digital Classroom initiative to AMCHAM members, and invite all interested companies to participate.
Since June 2022, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has partnered with Google for Education (GfE) and the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University to help accelerate digital transformation and device equity initiatives for the city. GfE currently supports BMA with productivity tools for education such as Google Workspace for Education (domain setup) and free product training. In addition to this, GfE also ran a Digital Classroom with Chromebooks pilot at Thai Niyom Songkra School (Bangkok), providing the school with Chromebooks (through Asus) with Chrome Education Upgrade, with research about the pilot facilitated by Chulalongkorn University.
Due to the success of this pilot, BMA is looking to scale the digital classroom initiative to more schools through a sustainable process that will gather donations for old computer devices from enterprises in Thailand and utilize the power of Google's Chrome OS Flex to convert these devices into fast, secure, and cloud-based devices made for the classroom. As part of our commitment to this initiative, Google will provide deployment support and free product training for each school. BMA is targeting to receive 2,200 devices for semester year 2023 which will then increase to a 14,700 device target by year 2024. This totals to a 4-year goal of getting 130,000 devices by 2027 to fully scale the program to all 437 Bangkok schools.
AMCHAM invites all members interested in learning more to join us at the Google Thailand office on July 13.
