Description
Please join AMCHAM for our September Membership Meeting, with presentations organized by the Food & Agri-Business Committee.
At this meeting, the AMCHAM Nominating Committee will announce the AMCHAM Board Candidates for the 2021-2022 term, to be decided by membership vote. Nominations from the floor will also be called for and require at least one regular member to second a nomination. Both must be present during this virtual meeting to qualify for candidacy. Results will be announced at the AMCHAM AGM on October 27th.
Our speaker presentation will highlight opportunities for sustainable agriculture in Thailand and regionally, and take a closer look at how two very different organizations - USAID Green Invest Asia and The Yield Lab Asia Pacific (YLAP) - are catalyzing investment and innovation in sustainable land use.
About the Speakers:
USAID Green Invest Asia
Christy Owen is Chief of Party for USAID Green Invest Asia, a climate finance facility working to increase investment in sustainable agribusiness, forestry and other land use businesses in Southeast Asia by $400M. Since 2018, it has supported companies with capital matchmaking, business feasibility and carbon accounting studies, investment-readiness counsel and more, while helping investors meet their sustainable finance commitments and source profitable entities. USAID Green Invest Asia has initially focused on rice, rubber, timber, coffee, coconut and cacao, but is continuously looking to expand its pipeline of climate-smart agriculture and forestry projects in the region that can lower carbon emission.
The Yield Lab Asia Pacific (YLAP)
Claire Pribula is Managing Director, Asia Pacific for The Yield Lab, which has AgTech Funds and Accelerators based in North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America which invest in innovative AgTech early-stage companies. It is part of a global network of funds and accelerators that identifies and accelerates impactful and disruptive innovation across all aspects of the Agriculture industry with an aim to comprehensively address the ever-growing global sustainability and food security issues. Claire has over 30 years' experience leading new and emerging lines of business for such Fortune 500 companies as SAP, IBM, Acxiom, EDS (HP) and McDonnell Douglas (Boeing).
