SUMMARY:DEI Committee: Making Disability Employment Law Work For Your Business
DESCRIPTION:Calling all CEOs\, HR practitioners\, and managers who want to understand their obligations and opportunities under Thai legislation of people with disabilities (PWD).\n\n \n\nWhen it comes to hiring PWD\, many companies want to do the right thing\, but struggle to find workable solutions. This panel discussion is designed to clarify the complexity surrounding disability law in Thailand\, which can be tricky to navigate\, and highlight underutilized opportunities. For example:\n\n Businesses are missing out on the talent\, creativity\, cultural benefits and increased retention PWD are proven to bring to the workplace\n\n Businesses are also paying fines where they could be accessing tax breaks and exemptions.\n\n Meanwhile\, PWD are finding it difficult to access meaningful employment.\n\n \n\nMany companies opt to pay fines under the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act\, believing this option to be less costly than accommodations that come with hiring PWD. Businesses envision major costs around installation of lifts and ramps\, when in fact minor accommodations\, such as improved signage\, can fulfil the requirements needed. This event aims to help companies understand simple change they can make to access the financial and cultural benefits of hiring people with disabilities. Attendees will come away feeling informed about disability law and with a list of clear\, easy to implement actions they can take to move towards employment of PWD.\n\n\n\nThis event is co-partner between DEI\, Legal\, and HR Committees.\n\n\n\nAbout the Speakers:\n\n\n\nSaudi Khaneng has over two decades experience working as a HR leader in the hospitality sector. Saudi excels in talent management\, strategic partnerships\, and employee engagement. They have successfully shaped HR strategies\, achieved notable improvements in turnover rates and employee satisfaction. Saudi is the HR Country Lead at IHG Hotels & Resorts in Thailand. \n\n\n\nPear Chainares has over ten years' experience working as a therapist and inclusion specialist. In her role at Steps she acts as a bridge between partner companies and the PWD community\, using her expertise to fill the knowledge gap and\, in collaboration with partners\, build an ecosystem around inclusive employment that is sustainable for everyone.\n\n\n\nMax Simpson has been working with the neurodivergent community for over 15 years\, and the longer they work alongside this community\, the more evidence they have that they are value-adding employees to any business. Max is the founder and CEO of Steps\, a social purpose organization providing end to end solutions for companies looking to become neuro-inclusive.
